SPECIAL EDITION, INC. , home of all BECK products is proud to offer our BECK SPYDER factory wiring harness to the public.
This harness is professionally engineered and manufactured to the highest standards, complete with a 16 position modern fuse block (6 constant, 10 ignition switched), a 4 relay panel with relays.
This complete kit is just that – COMPLETE!
You will receive 6 sub-harnesses designed to be fitted into the SPYDER.
1 – BATTERY CABLE HARNESS with the battery connectors and proper terminations.
2 – ALTERNATOR harness that has the B+ and failure signal light wire with terminations.
3 – MAIN DASH HARNESS designed to include all of the terminations for gauges, ignition switch, headlight switch, turn signals, wipers, and the fuse block and relay block.
4 – REAR HARNESS has the oil temp, pressure, tach signal, coil power, and an extra circuit for adding another B+ such as oil cooler fan, etc.
5 – REAR DECK HARNESS plugs into the REAR HARNESS to allow complete deck removal, if required, with a single plug. It has the rear lighting circuits, including provisions for a back-up light (required in BECK cars going to Dubai, Kuwait, South Africa, Japan and some other destinations.)
6 – FRONT AREA HARNESS has the headlight, turn light, fuel pump B+, fuel sender, and an extra circuit for any additional item you may wish to add. (Rally lights?)
This harness has all DELPHI automotive quality weather tight plugs, color coded and numbered wires, and a complete electrical schematic. It is completely flex wrapped in black with all branches properly taped and sealed. Where a light pigtail, say from the tail lights connects to the harness we supply both sides of the plug and the ends to put onto the pigtail wires, making the harness 100% automotive quality DELPHI weathertight plugs.
The gauge plugs are designed and numbered to fit our very own BECK/VDO gauge set. These gauges have the same authentic classic look of the VDO's we have used for 25 years from VDO Brasil, but are now an accurate 100mm case size. See our website for more info on these.
The Chinese copies of our old gauges have virtually identical plug configurations but that is where the similarity ends. From a wiring standpoint they are interchangeable into this harness offer.
Ignition switch, headlight switch, turn signal switch, headlights, tail lights, etc. are NOT part of the harness. Nor is the battery, engine, or other hard parts. This is a complete harness that will provide the professional look and quality your project deserves.

This 3 gauge set was developed in close coordination, and with the invaluable assistance of VDO and their personnel.
They are 100mm metal cases, and are the original VDO face lit versions, as the old VDO guages were made.
The internals of these NEW VDO Instruments are all 12 volt electrical.
The Speedometer, (0 to 120 MPH) requires either the hidden GPS antenna (available here as well), or a Hall type sensor (we do not use at BECK). This speedometer can also be calibrated to any 12 volt square wave signal up to 350,000 pulses per mile. there is a procedure for those who know the pulse rate of their sender, and one that calculates it by driving a measured mile (for those who do not know the pulse rate in question.)
It is in MPH, but a KPH version will be available in the coming months. Please note that the odometer/trip meter is a small window at 6 o'clock position and is digital.
The Tachometer is electrical, driven from the distributor signal. 0 to 8K RPM (UPM), with the red area beginning at 6200. It has the turn indicator light, emergency brake warning light and driving light indicator in the bottom (6 o'clock position.) The DIN switches on the back can be set for 4, 6, or 8 cylinder engines. The proper setting for 4 cylinders is 1 - ON, 2- off, 3 - off.
The Combination Gauge has the oil temperature, the fuel level, and 4 warning lights, alternator failure, high beam indicator, oil pressure failure, etc. This requires a fuel sender - 75ohm-10 ohm, VW version, and a 250 degree F oil sender, (1/8 - 27NPT),.

To the right is a .pdf of the gauge wiring for the VDO gauges above. The wire colors indicated are BECK harness codes up to 2013.
The drawing is basic, but should get you there. Be sure to supply a ground to each light socket, as case is no longer ground for these sockets.
Also, set the DIP Switch for the proper number of cylinders in your application.
The drawing is for the GPS version of speed indication.
