BECK  GTS PROJECT MOVES TO INDIANA PLANT

An exciting addition to the Special Edition, Inc. manufacturing facility here in Indiana is the BECK  GTS project.  This project was completely developed and initially marketed by Chuck Beck through his Beck Development operation in Georgia.

Chuck opted to return to the work he enjoys doing best, project development, and an arrangement was made for the transfer of the BECK GTS project  to Carey Hines’ Special Edition, Inc. facility for continued manufacture.

Chuck has and continues to be directly involved in the transition, both in training the personnel on the build procedure at Special Edition, Inc. and assisting in integrating the out-sourced items with our local suppliers.  He has kept an eye on each aspect of this transition to insure continued highest quality and a smooth transition for our clientele.

We are pleased to announce this transition, and will expand our website to include additional information as time allows.

THE FIRST INDIANA BUILDS

The initial 2 BECK  GTS orders to be manufactured and assembled at Special Edition, Inc. include one RHD 904 for Australia, as a roller, and one turn-key LHD for a domestic client. (These are BECK GTS numbers 29 and 30 chronologically.) This will be followed closely by the 3rd and 4th.  One for our own use as a demo and one for the next client, brought to a roller, no paint or interior colors until those items are selected by that customer.

Special Edition, Inc. is following the same strict quality control as Beck Development, including 100% hand laid fiberglass bodies, folded stainless steel chassis, and custom built suspensions.  The BECK GTS is still offered as a roller, less engine and transmission, as well as a turn-key product with any air cooled 6 cylinder engine and either the 901 or 915 gearbox.

The price for a roller is $81,500.00.  A complete turnkey is $84,000 plus cost of engine and transmission.  Leather interior, carpeting, sound insulation, and your choice of side window operation (wind-up, strap pull-up,  or side sliding Lexan), are still standard. A few new items including climate control, sound systems, and other optional selections are also now available.

Special Edition has already made several interiors for earlier BECK GTS’s, and has previously painted 4 or 5 for Beck Development prior to this transition including Chuck’s personal “lightweight”  track car,  a Ben Pon Orange car for a VA. customer, and a few others.

BECK  GTS INFORMATION

As of September of 2013 the BECK GTS production has been officially moved to our manufacturing facility here in Bremen, IN.

Mr. Chuck Beck has been coming up for a week or two at a time and has been training our GTS team on the build process for this amazingly quick and agile addition to our current BECK  product line.

The manufacturing process begins in our lamination shop with the hand lamination by skilled laminators with over 20 years experience in creating light, strong body panels.

The folded stainless steel chassis manufacturing is done in the welding shop and these two components of the GTS come together and are mated into a rock solid platform while the body remains locked in the main body mold.  This insures a consistent, accurate alignment of the body/chassis package.

This body and chassis package then moves to the main assembly area where the components relating to steering, braking, suspension, fuel, electrical and the other critical systems are carefully installed.

In another area of the plant the head upholsterer prepares to sew the customers selection of high quality leather into the scupted seats and interior trim.

The customer has also selected the exterior color of his new GTS and it is then prepared for our show winning 2 stage paint application and the addition of all of the external trim pieces such as the rear engine grill, door handles, lights, windshield and door glass (fixed, wind up, side sliding plexi or manual strap lifting glass is offered.)

Each and every step of the manufacturing process is overseen by Carey Hines, and his approval of every aspect of your new BECK GTS assures that the superb quality and craftsmanship that has come to be associated with our BECK products is maintained to the exacting standards set by Mr. Chuck Beck himself.

Chuck visits the plant regularly and has full access to the assembly teams from beginning to end.  He joins in the work and guides this latest project to enter our facility with the pride of the creator of all BECK products.

Rest assured that the BECK GTS manufactured here is as good as any ever made and the addition of this project to our facility allows him to do what he dearly loves to do; create new products.
